LPFFC 2-DAY FLY FISHING SCHOOL Limited to 4 students per session. For those LPFFC members who can not take 5 days off to attend the 5-day Fishing School, The Lodge and Ranch at Chama Land and Cattle Company has offered a special program of a 2-day fly fishing school for beginner and intermediate fly fishers. This school will not be as intensive as the experience of attending the 5-day school but you will receive instruction from highly skilled and experienced anglers and come back to Santa Fe with more confidence as a fly fisher than before.
June 27-29 (School starts on Saturday, June 2. You will depart after breakfast on Monday, June 29.) July 11-13 (School starts on Saturday, July 11. You will depart after breakfast on Monday, July 13.)

The fly fishing school package provides all equipment (rod, reel, waders, float tube), license, flies, instructors, transportation to and from lakes and streams. School package does not include lodging or guide gratuities. The accommodations at the luxurious Lodge at Chama includes hearty gourmet meals, evening receptions, full use of the spa, and complimentary bar (excludes wine).

Lake fishing techniques on some of over a dozen private lakes which hold trout up to 20 pounds;

How to select and balance your equipment and tie basic knots;

Various casting methods such as the roll cast, false cast, pickup and lay down casts, shooting line and single and double hauls;

Lake and stream aquatic insect identification;

Selection and use of proper dry and nymph flies;

How to read the water and trout rise form to determine what and how fish are feeding; and

Proper catch and release techniques.
